Overview

Jaam-e-Jam Restaurant in Hornsby stands as a beacon of authentic Persian cuisine, inviting diners into a warm, welcoming space just off Pacific Highway. This restaurant captures the vibrant essence of Persian culinary traditions with a menu that showcases rich flavors and time-honored recipes. Whether you're a long-time enthusiast of Iranian food or a curious newcomer, Jaam-e-Jam delivers a genuine taste experience that is both comforting and memorable.

The heart of their menu lies in its main dishes, featuring highlights like the Fesenjan—a slow-cooked stew made with tender chicken fillets bathed in a walnut and pomegranate sauce, served alongside fragrant saffron rice. This dish perfectly balances sweet and tangy notes, embodying Persian cuisine’s intricate layering of flavors. Another standout is the Barg Kebab, a gluten-free delicacy of marinated lamb backstrap grilled to juicy perfection and presented with a BBQ tomato and saffron rice. Traditional rice dishes such as Gheymeh Nesar introduce pistachios and barberries, offering a unique textural contrast and tartness that elevate the meal.

For starters, the Mirza Ghasemi—an eggplant-based dip mixed with eggs, garlic, and tomato—shines for its smoky aroma and smooth texture, best enjoyed with the house-made Persian lavash bread. Other appetizers like Must O Mooseer, a creamy yogurt mixed delicately with Persian garlic, add refreshing depth and balance. The drink selection complements the robust food perfectly, featuring traditional options like Doogh, a Persian yogurt-based beverage that refreshes the palate.

Located in a cozy neighborhood setting in Hornsby, Jaam-e-Jam’s ambiance reflects the hospitality and warmth intrinsic to Persian culture. Friendly staff enhance the dining experience, creating a relaxed atmosphere that caters equally well to families, couples, and groups of friends seeking authentic flavors. The restaurant appeals to those who appreciate genuine cultural culinary experiences, and even welcomes BYO, which adds to its approachable, community-oriented vibe.

Longtime patrons praise Jaam-e-Jam for consistent quality and authenticity, with many noting that the flavors remind them of home. The kitchen’s mastery in marination and spice blends stands out, especially the care taken to infuse each meat dish with natural acidity, sparing the need for added citrus. While some diners have remarked on slight variations—such as the Koobideh’s seasoning veering toward a Lebanese style and suggestions for fresher rice—the overall consensus highlights outstanding service, rich flavors, and generous portions.

The restaurant also thoughtfully includes vegetarian options for beloved dishes like Ghormeh Sabzi and Fesenjan, ensuring inclusivity without sacrificing traditional flavor profiles. Seasonal touches, such as the Persian New Year table offerings, signal their dedication to cultural celebration and culinary craftsmanship.

In summary, Jaam-e-Jam Restaurant embodies the spirit of Persian cuisine through authentic dishes, attentive service, and a friendly setting. Its carefully curated menu, blending smoky, tart, nutty, and savory elements, captures the essence of a rich culinary heritage. Whether you seek a new dining discovery or a nostalgic taste of Persia, this Hornsby gem promises a flavorful journey that satisfies both palate and heart.

Enjoyed the service and food today. Came back after many years, quality of the food and the service provided today was really good. I got the special plate, the Barg was excellent I asked for it to come out bit more juicier and it was absolutely outstanding. The chicken also had a nice tang and was marinated well - unlike other restaurants where you need a wedge of lemon squeezed in order to enhance the flavor the marination was quite nice and the acidity was already present Area of improvement for me is the Koobideh, I found it to be slightly on the saltier side but also with some spices added to make it closer to a Lebanese style Kafta Kabab rather than a traditional Persian koobideh the rice could have also been bit more fresh Aside from that the staff, ambience and overall good quality was very good!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’ve been a loyal customer of Jame Jam Persian Restaurant for over 8 years, and it is hands down the best Persian restaurant in Sydney. The quality and taste are absolutely authentic — exactly like back home in Persia. I’ve tried almost every Persian restaurant across Sydney, but none of them come close to Jame Jam when it comes to flavour, freshness, and hospitality. I’m very fussy when it comes to food quality, taste, and service, but Jame Jam has always exceeded my expectations. From the warm welcome to the perfectly cooked meals, everything is consistently outstanding. If you’re searching for the best Persian food in Sydney, don’t waste your time looking elsewhere — this is the place! Highly recommended.

Wow, what an amazing Persian restaurant. The restaurant is BYO, and the staff are super friendly (like all Persian restaurants). There was plenty of nearby parking even on a Saturday, but I suspect you can park at Westfield and walk as well. We loved the Mirza Ghasemi dip (bbq eggplant, eggs, tomato, garlic) and has this with Persian bread - it doesn't have a strong eggplant taste and was divine. Also person bread is way better than Lebanese bread. We shared a Gheymeh Nesar (lamb on saffron rice topped with barberries), and everything worked, we loved the flavours of the rice, the tenderness of the lamb, the texture from the pistachio flavours and the tang from the barberries. I loved the rollet (Swiss roll cake) dessert - a serve is 2 slices. We also loved the mixed phaloodehand ice cream dessert. It was fun changing up the flafoure with the cherry sauce and the lemon sauce, although you only need a few drops of each. Can't wait to come back!

We had such a delicious meal here. The flavours were so unique and truly delicious. My girlfriend and I shared the Persian olive dip (must try, unlike any other dip I’ve had) and Noon paneer Gerdu (feta was so good) for starters. We then had Fesenjan and Gheymeh Nesar for the mains, and both were exceptional. The servings were very generous and left us well and truly full. The only request I’d make is for a little bit more meat in the dishes, but apart from that everything was perfect. Our waitress was so lovely aswell and provided excellent service. Overall we both agree we’ve found a true gem in Hornsby and will definitely be coming back!

Great Persian cuisine. Super friendly staff. Very delicious. If you're new to Persian food, the Jaam e Jam special is a good taster of some of the main options. The Persian bread is also worth a try. Normally it's a busy place, so recommend booking ahead. On a Saturday night there's Normally two sittings 6.00pm-7.30pm. And then 7.30PM-9.00PM. Parking can be tricky, but is worth the short walk.

I've been coming to Jaam e Jam with my family for years now, so I’m definitely a little biased—but it’s truly my favourite Iranian restaurant! There’s something special about the kebabs, the homemade doogh, and the cozy atmosphere that keeps me coming back. And the cherry on top? They make fresh Halim on weekends! The only other times I’ve had fresh Halim were back in 2015 in Tehran and as a child when my grandmother would make it. Having it here brings back so many beautiful memories. It’s truly a gift to find a little taste of home right here in Hornsby. Highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic Iranian food!
